ISB Technologies CEO Alan Darmanin on Monday emphasised Malta’s role in technology and innovation, despite its relatively small size when compared to other countries.

This came as he recalled the daily online calls he has with customers and product partners from all around the world, which he describes as “probably the most exciting part” about his job.

“But many, understandably, give me a baffled look when I tell them that our core team is based in Malta. Often I need to explain where Malta is and that we are based on a tiny island in the middle of the Mediterranean,” he said.

“But despite its size, Malta punches well above its weight when it comes to tech and innovation,” he added.

He also remarked that Malta is not only “blessed to have 300 days of sunshine”, but also “blessed to have incredibly skilled people”.

Mr Darmanin is a seasoned technology consultant that over the last nine years has focused on property technology. He has worked as ISB Technologies CEO for more than nine years, and during that time has planned and overseen the execution of the company’s transition from a predominantly services-based company to one that “proudly designs, develops, and internationally sells” property technology and freight technology cloud solutions.

He is also Managing Director at REAP CRM Ltd, which was formerly a product of ISB Technologies, yet is now an independently managed cloud-based estate agent CRM solution focused on Malta’s real estate market.

His background also includes periods as a Software Developer, Lecturer, and Lead Consultant at various organisations.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science, Information Systems from Oxford Brookes University, and is particularly skilled in software development, web development, and software engineering, among others.
