Ms Cilia has prior experience at the company, having served in a wide array of roles between 2006 and 2020, including as Planning and Aircraft Engineer, Engineering and Planning Manager, Head of Operations Engineering and Planning, and Head of Process Improvement, among others.

She most recently was Senior Director Planning and Engineering at Lufthansa Technik Sofia, an experience that came to an end this month after more than three years in the position. Ms Cilia had said that making the move to a foreign country like Bulgaria at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic gave her the “strength, the courage, and the confidence to confront obstacles, find opportunities from the crisis to drive the business forward, and the pleasure to experience different cultures and meet many new colleagues and friends”.

Aside from her time at Lufthansa Group, she was also Mechanical Engineer at Enemalta plc and Malta Resources Authority.

Ms Cilia holds a Master of Business Administration in Project Management from University of Chester and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from University of Malta. In her LinkedIn profile, she describes herself as an “enthusiastic, empathetic, passionate, result-driven, and action-oriented leader” with an ability to “motivate and develop a high-performing team”.

Lufthansa Technik Malta began operations in 2003 as a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and Air Malta plc. The company is based at Malta International Airport and offers a range of maintenance, repair, and overhaul services, being considered an Airbus Overhaul specialist within Lufthansa Technik’s network. This year it is celebrating the 20th anniversary since it started operating in Malta.
