Mark Vella has been appointed Managing Director at HV Hospitality, taking responsibility for the strategic, operational and financial direction of the group’s high-end hospitality portfolio.
In his new role, Mr Vella is overseeing the development and delivery of two flagship projects: A Six Senses-branded resort on the island of Comino, and a high-end boutique guesthouse located in Valletta.
According to Mr Vella, his remit as Managing Director includes leading the company’s long-term business strategy, construction oversight, and asset management across the full development lifecycle – from concept and design through to pre-opening and operations. He is working closely with the Board of Directors, Six Senses, in-house hospitality teams, and specialist project, design and technical consultants to ensure the projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with brand, sustainability and return objectives.
Beyond development delivery, his responsibilities also extend to supporting financing and investment decisions, while optimising asset performance to ensure each property achieves its intended market positioning and long-term value.
Mr Vella brings extensive experience in hospitality leadership and luxury development to the role. His career includes senior positions with The Xara Collection, Hyatt Regency Malta and Hilton Malta, where he developed expertise in account management, data analysis and business analysis within large-scale hospitality operations.
The Valletta boutique guesthouse forms part of a wider investment programme linked to Hili Finance, which in December 2025 received approval for a €60 million bond issue. Approximately €3.5 million of the proceeds are earmarked to part-finance development and refurbishment works at the Battery Street property in Valletta.
HV Hospitality is a subsidiary of Hili Ventures, the Maltese-owned group engaged in food service & retail, real estate & hospitality, shipping, oil & gas, engineering, and technology in 10 countries across Europe and North Africa, with a team of more than 12,500 people. Hili Ventures is also a partner of Apple, Konecranes, McDonald’s, Microsoft, NCR, Six Senses, and various other global brands.
