Harbour Solutions Ltd Managing Director (MD) Ruben Curmi has described 2023 as a year characterised by “growth, consolidation, and challenges”, particularly following the company’s move to new premises.

Ing Curmi was commenting as part of MaltaCEOs.mt’s end-of-year series, where he touched on the building management solutions company’s plans for 2024, together with some changes to his daily routine that he wants to implement.

He has served as MD of Harbour Solutions for more than 10 years, having previously amassed various years of experience working in IT and telecoms-related roles. Despite his wide array of experience, 2024 is set to be a year of change for Ing Curmi, as he wants to reduce the amount of unplanned and urgent work he has in order to be more efficient and give greater priority to his own well-being.

What 3 words would you use to sum up your 2023? Why?

Growth, consolidation, challenges.

This year saw us grow with double digits and this is still quite an accomplishment following the three-digit growth of 2022. We have also moved to our brand-new premises at the Central Business District. The challenges consisted mainly of sustaining growth whilst retaining the level of services we would like to give to clients.

What personal accomplishment from the past year are you most proud of?

Becoming recognised as a major player in our sector in Malta. This is thanks to our investment in knowhow and people as well as by successfully completing some very high-profile projects.

What are you most grateful for in 2023?

Grateful for our loyal clients who keep entrusting us with their orders.

How did you spend your New Year?

With my family in Gozo and at home.

What are the biggest opportunities and challenges you believe 2024 will bring?

The biggest opportunity for us in 2024 we hope will be the signing of the first contracts with overseas clients.

Our challenges remain as ever continuing to offer great technical solutions and improved customer service.

Is there a particular skill you’d like to develop in the new year?

I’d like to improve processes to help project delivery.

Is there something you’d like to change about your daily routine?

I would like to reduce last-minute requests and unplanned, urgent work.

Where do you see yourself in a year’s time?

Not very far from where we stand now. Just a little more consolidated.
