MeDirect Bank has announced the appointment of Muralidhar Rama Subramanian as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

Mr Rama Subramanian brings with him extensive international banking experience spanning more than three decades. Prior to joining MeDirect, he served as Chief Executive Officer at FIMBank, where he led the institution through a period of strategic development within the trade finance and banking services sector.

Before this, Mr Rama Subramanian spent six years at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank as Executive Vice President and Group Head of Transaction Banking. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing trade and supply chain growth initiatives and played a central role in restoring profitability to a business generating approximately USD 250 million in annual revenues.

His career also includes a 21-year tenure at Citibank, preceded by earlier roles at ABN Amro. During his time at Citi, Mr Rama Subramanian held senior leadership positions across multiple regions, concluding his career there as Managing Director and Global Head of Domestic Payables.

Among his key achievements was leading the development of domestic payables capabilities across 105 countries, as well as building trade, supply chain and cash management businesses across MENA, West Africa, Russia and the CIS.
