Melita’s Head of Human Resources, Jacqueline Abela, has noted how the company has constantly evolved to meet society’s standards.

Ms Abela made the comments as Melita was re-certified by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE), with the company being awarded an Equality Mark for a further three years.

The re-certification is based on Melita’s ongoing commitment to implement policies and practices, particularly in the area of gender equality and family-friendly measures at the workplace and in the access to and provision of goods and services.

“Melita was first certified by the NCPE in 2010. Over the past decade society has constantly evolved and this formal recognition shows that Melita has continued to adapt its policies and practices to these changes,” Ms Abela said.

“Thanks also to the new opportunities of advancing technology and improved connectivity, we have been able to provide employees with the tools and flexibility they need to work in a way that best suits their own personal circumstances.”

The NCPE works to ensure that Maltese society is a society free from any form of discrimination based on protected characteristics, including gender, sexual orientation, race and religion.

After joining Melita in 2007, Ms Abela was made Head of Human Resources in 2008
