Less than a year after announcing a strategic merger aimed at strengthening leadership development and organisational performance services, Mdina Partners and entrepreneur and executive coach Nathan Farrugia have confirmed that their collaboration has come to an end.
The partnership was formally announced in November 2025, when leadership advisory firm UP Your Level, founded by Mr Farrugia, joined forces with Mdina Partners. At the time, both organisations said the move would create a stronger platform for leadership development, coaching and strategic HR support.
On Tuesday (yesterday), Mdina Partners said all relevant employees and client engagements would remain within the organisation, ensuring business continuity despite the separation.
“Our priority is to ensure continuity and stability for our clients and our team. The relevant employees will continue within Mdina Partners, and ongoing engagements will proceed as planned. We remain committed to delivering professional support and continuity to our clients,” said CEO Alex Galea.
The firm added that it remains focused on its core areas of advisory, training, coaching and organisational development, helping businesses strengthen leadership capability, people practices and organisational performance.
The announcement marks the end of a collaboration that began only seven months ago.
For his part, Mr Farrugia indicated that he will now dedicate his efforts to a portfolio of ventures that align closely with his long-standing focus on executive development and performance.
In a LinkedIn post, he said he would be concentrating on expanding Vistage across Malta, the UAE and Iceland, while exploring opportunities in additional territories. He also highlighted plans to continue coaching and mentoring CEOs, keynote speaking engagements, and the growth of sports events including XTERRA, MediTerra and Colour Run.
“Mentoring CEOs and inspiring leaders is at the heart of my ikigai. This is a natural evolution – doing what I’ve always loved, with new opportunities ahead,” Farrugia wrote.
He also confirmed that the Academy and training team associated with the previous collaboration would remain with Mdina Partners, emphasising the importance of continuity for clients and stakeholders.
The development brings to a close a relatively short chapter for both organisations, with neither side disclosing further details regarding the reasons for the separation.
