Y Ltd Founder and Managing Director Gordon Pace on Tuesday remarked that receptionists and cleaners are “essential participants” in decision-making processes, despite often being “ignored”.

“Receptionists and cleaners might be your best consultants,” he said, before adding that he “loves spending time with both”.

“They’re the ones that know what’s happening within an organisation. They know who’s meeting or calling who, what meetings are about and, more importantly, they’re what I call the custodians of emotions,” he explained.

Mr Pace said that receptionists and cleaners know who is in a good mood, motivated, and who is having a good time and who is not.

However, he pointed out that “ironically, most of the time, they’re the most ignored when they can be essential participants in decision-making processes”.

Additionally, they could have the “necessary insight” to address some of the organisation’s “most pressing challenges”.

“I have involved both in several meetings, and it’s always been incredibly useful,” he said, before concluding with: “Please be sure to treat everyone with respect”.

Mr Pace, who is widely experienced in the communications industry, founded Y Ltd in 2013 to provide marketing and public relations services. The company has since grown, and in 2019 it acquired the operations of Calypso Radio 101.8 and completed the purchase of the station earlier this month. Y Ltd is also comprised of event organisation company Y Events, training and recruitment services provider HR Pro, and private tours company Plus Malta.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Chester, and a Bachelor of Arts in Youth & Community Studies from University of Malta.
