Samuel Zerafa has been appointed Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Mediterranean Maritime Hub Limited (MMH).

Announcing the promotion on LinkedIn, Mr Zerafa described the new role as “both a privilege and a responsibility” that he is proud to embrace.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the management and board of directors for the trust and confidence they have placed in me,” he wrote.

“I’m looking forward to this new chapter and to continuing to work alongside such an outstanding team,” he added.

Mr Zerafa has been with MMH for more than ten years, having served in various roles including Technical Superintendent and Head of Technical and Yachting Services.

Before joining MMH, he worked as an Assistant Technical Superintendent at Tug Malta for more than four years.

In 2020, Mr Zerafa obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Reading.

Founded in 2001, MMH provides a range of maritime services, including rig agency and rig stop services, project planning, recruitment, logistics and facilities provision.

The company is currently in a middle of a significant change in shareholders, with a group of Maltese businessmen taking a 49 per cent stake in the company. Part of the transaction involves the provision of funds required to redeem a €15 million bond maturing in October, after years of challenging conditions left MMH unable to meet its obligations otherwise.
