A local food manufacturing company will be investing €9 million in its relocation and construction of a new building in Mrieħel, which will host “more modern and efficient machinery as well as research and design facilities.”
This investment by C.Cini Manufacturing Ltd, better known by their trade name, Lamb Brand, will allow the company to improve and expand their product offering beyond the local market, it announced last Friday, in the presence of Enterprise Minister Miriam Dalli.
Melanie Galea Cini, a Director at C.Cini Manufacturing Ltd, shared how “this investment has been long overdue, and will ensure that Lamb Brand continues to be a staple in Maltese homes and even beyond, with a diverse range of products to address new trends and developments in the food market, as well as keep up with our growing demand.
“We are proud that we will be creating more jobs and that as a family business we will be making a substantial investment in our new home in Mrieħel and with the latest machinery.”
The company was founded in 1931, and over the decades has consistently invested and expanded its operations. Malta Enterprise has been touted as being instrumental in enabling the company to continue to develop and produce quality products. The company will be expanding its product range to cater for more modern tastes and preferences, including gluten-free products, amongst others.
Sustainability is at the forefront of this investment, the company says, where C.Cini Manufacturing Ltd will continue to add modern machinery to improve production and product efficiency.
C.Cini Manufacturing Ltd will be switching to recyclable plastic packaging and is currently working to obtain ISO, BRC and IFS certifications. This course of action will allow the company to export its products to different countries, beyond the Sicilian, Libyan and Australian markets they already service.
Minister Miriam Dalli explained that companies such as C.Cini Manufacturing Ltd are following the government’s vision of decarbonisation, while the government is constantly incentivising and supporting companies to achieve sustainable growth.
“C.Cini Manufacturing Ltd is a family business that despite a challenging time is consolidating in the expansion of its facilities, in the export of its products and increasing its research and development activity. The €9 million investment will lead to the creation of 40% new jobs. This joins a previous €3 million investment in machinery the company has already made. These are the enterprises we are proud of and we must continue to assist,” said Minister Dalli.
