Tricia Vella is set to join M&Z plc as Chief Financial Officer at the start of next year, the importing and distribution company announced on Tuesday.

Ms Vella possesses a strong background in finance, having most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Swedish listed iGaming company Acroud AB. She had first joined the company in 2019 as Financial Controller, and also went on to serve as Head of Finance.

Her career also includes seven years at PwC, working alongside various clients in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, a business which M&Z specialises in.

Ms Vella holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounting and describes herself as “strong willed” and “hard working”.

Additionally, M&Z also announced the resignation of Christian Giordimaina from his role as Financial Controller, a position he held for more than two years.

The company thanked him for his “service and commitment” during his time working at M&Z and also wished him success for the future.

M&Z is a Malta-based company that first began operations in 1922, with the FMCG business being established in the 1930s. Over the years it has built up a portfolio of brands, with food brands comprising a major part of it. When the Founders moved away from the business, M&Z was, in 1998, transferred to M&Z (Marketing) Ltd, a company owned by Micallef and Zammit Limited.
