Josef Said, CEO at Expedition42 – the parent company of Konnekt – has stated that the acquisition of VacancyCentre.com’s intellectual property (IP) represents a “significant step” for the company.

His comments came as part of a joint statement from Expedition42 and CSB Group announcing the former’s acquisition of the IP of recruitment agency VacancyCentre.

VacancyCentre is one of Malta’s oldest recruitment agencies, having been founded in 1999. It has established itself as an active player in sectors such as finance, technology, compliance, and operations.

When contacted by this newsroom, the two firms stated that the acquisition was done with the aim of enhancing Konnekt.com’s market presence and service offerings, while also allowing CSB Group to focus on driving growth within its service areas of specialisation.

Mr Said acknowledged that Expedition42 aims to continue VacancyCentre’s ethos towards its clients and candidates.

“We are honoured to curate the hard work put into VacancyCentre and are committed to delivering a high level of service to both clients and candidates,” he remarked.

“This acquisition represents a significant step in our mission to provide comprehensive HR solutions,” Mr Said added.

The joint statement by the two companies affirmed that the acquisition aligns with the strategic visions of both Expedition42 and CSB Group. CSB Group is a corporate service provider in Malta. Through this acquisition, Expedition42 aims to strengthen its position in the HR tech and services sector.

CSB Group CEO Michael J. Zammit expressed his confidence in Konnekt’s capabilities: “We are certain that Konnekt will do an excellent job at curating the thousands of candidates and clients we have serviced since 1999.”

“Their expertise and dedication to quality make them the ideal stewards for the future of VacancyCentre’s clients and candidates,” he continued.

IP constitutes intangible creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names and images.

In their statement, the firms did not clarify whether the VacancyCentre brand will remain in use for the foreseeable future.

They also did not provide any details as to how the two brands and their databases will be integrated, nor did they divulge the cost of the transaction.

However, when accessing VacancyCentre.com, users are notified that it has terminated its recruitment services, before redirecting them to Konnekt’s website. This suggests that the brand will no longer be in use.
