APS Bank plc is supporting the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)’s initiative to contribute to the advancement of humankind through technology and engineering among other things.
Speaking of this project, APS Bank Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jonathan Caruana expressed the bank’s pride in “enabling a framework for continuous development of [their] workforce.”
“This is the result of the fruitful collaboration between the Bank and educational institutions,” Mr Caruana added.
This statement was made in the light of Lydin Camilleri’s, who is the Lead Test Automation Engineer at APS Bank, participation in the IEEE Region 8 Student and Young Professionals Congress, which was held in Tunisia last August.
Headquartered in Tunis, IEEE R8 Student and Young Professional Congress is the largest student event in all Region 8. It occurs every two years and gathers both students and young professionals members from all sections in this Region. Its main goal is to enhance and foster the engineering sense and capabilities through different activities both technically and culturally.
The congress in Tunisia focused on thematic topics related to technology, engineering, energy, science and entrepreneurship.
During the event Mr Camilleri chaired the IEEE Malta Student Branch network whilst also participating in workshops, plenary and networking sessions.
Mr Camilleri has been Chair of IEEE Malta Student Branch for the past five months and has been working at APS Bank for over four years.
