William Wait has been appointed Executive Director of Smartcare Holdings Ltd, part of the Smart Group.

The group operates in a number of different sectors, including restaurants, care homes, and also develops property. It operates in real estate, construction, healthcare, and hospitality.

Mr Wait has played down criticism regarding his potential conflict of interests between his official government role as Malta Enterprise Chairman and private business.

He has held a number of posts in government entities in the past, including having been Chairman of Projects Malta, Chairman of the Water Services Corporation and of Arms Ltd.

Dr Adrian Sciberras has also been appointed a role in Smartcare Holdings Ltd, as a Non-Executive Director.

Mr Wait and Dr Sciberras join Chairman Andrew Debattista Segond on the board of Smartcare Holdings.
