APS Bank’s Head of Culture Rachael Blackburn has reaffirmed the bank’s support for culturally significant projects, after the bank sponsored the restoration of an 18th-century religious statue.

The statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was extensively restored and inaugurated by Archbishop Charles J Scicluna and Provincial Father Joe Saliba on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Archconfraternity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Valletta. Senior bank representatives attended the event, held under the auspices of the President of Malta, George Vella.

“APS Bank believes in supporting projects and initiatives that are of particular significance to society and in the interest of cultural heritage. This is aligned with APS Bank’s values and we are delighted to have helped make this restoration possible,” Ms Blackburn said.

The wooden polychrome statue is an early 18th-century work and has recently been attributed to Pietro Paolo Troisi (1686-1743). The restoration project was carried out by Atelier del Restauro.
