Director of Sales Andy Tanti on Tuesday announced that his time at AX Hotels came to an end on Monday after 26 years at the hospitality company, spread over two spells.

“Chapters close and others open”, he shared, before adding that it was an “exciting and eventful journey, with some bumps along the way”, yet it was “all worth it”.

“I had the privilege to work with amazing colleagues and inspirational leaders, all of whom helped me grow to the man I have become,” he said.

Mr Tanti first started his career in the hospitality industry at the age of 15, where he worked as a Pool Attendant at Seashells Resort at Suncrest during summers while he was still studying. He then progressed up the corporate ladder, covering various positions including Front Office Cashier and Night Audit, and Front Office Manager.

After 17 years at the company, he left for four years to work as Revenue and E-Commerce Manager at The Phoenicia Malta.

Mr Tanti then re-joined AX Hotels as Business Development Manager in 2011, a position he was entrusted with for more than five years, before he was appointed to his most recent role as Director of Sales in 2016. As Director of Sales, he was tasked with creating “lasting and commercially viable” business relations with the hospitality company’s partners, together with “memorable” guest experience and inspiring and motivating his peers and colleagues to “grow and develop” their skills and careers.

He proceeded to express gratitude to everyone who he “crossed paths with” during his time at the company, including colleagues, clients and suppliers, remarking that it was a “pleasure” to work with them. Mr Tanti also thanked those people who “in some or many ways” helped him during the “good and not so good times”.

Mr Tanti is a Council Member at the Malta Hotels & Restaurants Association, a lobby group that is made up of hotel and restaurant owners representing the interests of its members on various national policy-making bodies.

He is qualified in Advanced Hospitality Revenue Management, Pricing and Demand Strategies from Cornell University, and holds a Master of Business Administration in Leisure and Tourism from European Institute of Education, as well as a Diploma in Tourism from Advance Tourism, among other qualifications. Mr Tanti is currently reading for a Master of Science in Hospitality Management
