David Spiteri has been appointed CEO at Bay Street Group, he announced on Tuesday.

Mr Spiteri is an experienced General Manager with years of experience working in hotel management and the events services industry.

Speaking to MaltaCEOs.mt about his new role at Bay Street Group, he said that he is very excited to be starting this new journey, leading the teams at Bay Street Shopping Complex, Hyatt Regency Malta, Be.Hotel, and Rainforest Café Malta.

“It’s an exciting time for the company and myself personally and hence would like to thank the Directors for entrusting me with this important role and for their support so far,” Mr Spiteri continued.

He added that he is looking forward to being of service to Bay Street Group’s clients, partners and suppliers, to “continue achieving great results and grow together.”

Bay Street Group has established a varied portfolio throughout the years, ranging from high-end retail and bespoke hospitality, to food and beverage, leading through its flagship Bay Street Shopping Complex.

Prior to his new role, Mr Spiteri worked at ECMeetings Malta and Portugal for more than six years, both as General Manager and Director.

In a recent post following his departure from ECMeetings, he remarked that the past few weeks have been very intensive for him. “Days that professionally have been very rewarding, whilst taking some major career decisions,” he said, hinting at his new role at Bay Street Group.

Mr Spiteri said that he was taking the decision to leave ECMeetings because he wanted to spend more time in Malta with the people that matter most to him. “I have spent the last 23 years working very hard to build a career for myself, however life is too short to have regrets. I wish to see my daughter growing. I want to be more present,” he remarked.

His experience also includes six years as Director at Evowk and four years as Group General Manager at Infinitely Xara.

Mr Spiteri has a Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management from the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) and says that over the years he has become particularly skilled in hotel management, incentive travel, hotel booking, food and beverage management, conference organisation, and rooms division.
