Driving innovation in the start-up space: Malta Enterprise and Microsoft team up

Malta Enterprise is partnering with Microsoft to highlight the island’s support for innovation and entrepreneurship. Recently Malta Enterprise and Microsoft collaborated on an event for startups in the Maltese ecosystem, where services offered to startups by both entities were presented.

From a Government perspective, Malta Enterprise continues to lead the charge on innovation and entrepreneurship – understanding that startups are a critical driving force for economic development.

ME driving the startup push

The Business Start scheme by Malta Enterprise has seen more than 100 projects being supported in the past few years, translating into €2.8 million for firms starting their businesses operations. Additionally, 60 projects under the Startup Finance scheme benefited from €25 million in repayable advances, the agency shared.

Malta Enterprise CEO, Kurt Farrugia said that “Malta Enterprise remains committed to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of agile, value-driven startups and scale-ups. We aim to create an ecosystem that not only provides funding avenues but also nurtures the growth of startups. We are committed to help showcase all support available to startups – be it from public or private entities. I would like to thank Microsoft for their contribution to our ecosystem. It was great to see Microsoft engage with those present at the Start Up Festival and we’re very glad to see them extending their services to Malta based Start Ups. Tangible support from Microsoft

While Government support is important in any startup ecosystem, it is just as important to have private-sector partners who can share a like-minded approach and help novel innovative companies reach their objectives.

Malta Enterprise, Tristratus (Microsoft Partner of the Year for Malta) and Microsoft’s partnership marks another step in this direction.

This public-private collaboration and dedication towards innovation and entrepreneurship aims to contribute to a future where local companies can truly reach their goals and can help Malta attract some of the best startup companies in the region.
