Alfie Borg / Hudson Holdings

Hudson Holdings Ltd Founder and Chairman Alfie Borg on Sunday highlighted that failure is a crucial step in the path towards success that everyone must face.

He said that when people see others who are successful, or run successful business, they think that “it just happened” and fail to realise “all the failures that happened to arrive to success”.

“Failure is often seen as a setback, a disappointment, or even a defeat. However, it is through failure that we truly learn and grow,” he continued.

Mr Borg noted that success may bring “temporary satisfaction”, yet it is ultimately failure that provides “valuable lessons and insights” that one can utilise to grow further in their career.

“When we fail, we are forced to reflect on our mistakes, analyse what went wrong, and identify areas for improvement. Failure teaches us resilience, perseverance, and the importance of adaptability,” he explained, before adding that it provides the push for people to get out of their comfort zones and to “think creatively and problem solve”.

“Failure is not the end, but rather a stepping stone towards success, as it equips us with the knowledge and experienced needed to overcome future challenges. Have faith, work hard, it will come,” he concluded.

Mr Borg joined Time International Co. Ltd in 1984 as a Sales Representative, and over time, he and Daniel Reginiano built the company into one of Malta’s leading distributors and retailers. The company was then transformed into a leading player in the sport and fashion retail sector, and in 2006, Mr Borg led the management buyout of the company to form a new holding company, Hudson Holdings Ltd.  Over the years, the company has brought a number of established brands like NIKE, Converse, Mango, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger to Malta and North Africa. Hudson Holdings also owns Urban Jungle, a sneaker franchise that is present in Europe and North Africa.
