Matthew Bianchi has taken up the position of Managing Partner at Ganado Advocates, succeeding André Zerafa on 1st January 2026.

Dr Bianchi has been actively involved in the management of the firm for a number of years, serving as a member of its Board of Management.

Dr Zerafa and Dr Bianchi have worked together closely to facilitate this transition, said the firm, ensuring that the process has been carefully managed to maintain both continuity and a seamless handover of responsibilities.

“The partners are confident that Matthew’s experience, perspective and long-standing involvement in the firm’s management will ensure continuity in leadership and further strengthen Ganado Advocates as it continues to build on its established foundations,” Dr Zerafa commented.

Dr Bianchi joined the firm in 2001 and served as Partner leading its insurance and reinsurance practice since 2009. He is known for his technical knowledge, understanding of regulatory matters, and practical approach to problem solving and innovation. His contributions have supported the growth of the insurance market locally and have strengthened the firm’s capabilities in this sector, advancing Ganado Advocates’ objectives in both domestic and international markets.

Reflecting on his appointment, Dr Bianchi thanked his colleagues for their trust and support as he steps into the role of Managing Partner.

He said he wants to continue consolidating the firm as one of Malta’s leading law firms, encouraging innovation and continuing learning and work closely with his colleagues and the senior management team.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining a client-centric approach, ensuring the firm continues to anticipate and respond to clients’ needs with excellence and professionalism.

Dr Bianchi also acknowledged Dr Zerafa’s leadership over the past five years, highlighting his role in strengthening the firm’s reputation, consolidating its compliance culture, and establishing new work streams.

He further recognised he predecessor’s guidance through challenging periods, including the global pandemic, while expanding the firm’s services and supporting the growth of the Luxembourg office to better serve clients.
