George Gregory

Updated 11:13am with Malta Enterprise announcement

George Gregory has been announced as the new CEO at Malta Enterprise, just a few hours after he informed RSM Malta’s Partners that he intends to retire from his post as Managing Partner.

Since his appointment at the start of 2021, Mr Gregory has overseen the COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic period as Managing Partner of RSM Malta.

During his tenure, RSM Malta has continued to establish itself as a leading assurance, tax and advisory firm, also as part of the global RSM network. He has also led the firm through a sustained period of growth in client portfolio and team complement.

Mr Gregory has also worked on widening RSM Malta’s reach on a number of fronts, including through different collaboration agreements with a number of stakeholders to build the RSM brand in Malta.

The Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects on the same day announced that Mr Gregory will take on the role of Malta Enterprise CEO from 9th September 2024.

He will replace Kurt Farrugia, who was confirmed as the new Transport Malta CEO last week.

Minister Silvio Schembri thanked Mr Farrugia for his time at the agency, and also looked forward to Mr Gregory’s contribution to Malta Enterprise and Malta’s economic development.

“This is a very important time for Malta Enterprise, where, as a country, we need to continue implementing more strongly our strategies so that we attract high value activity that does not require many workers or land to operate. This is how we can ensure sustainable economic growth that benefits everyone,” the Minister continued.

Mr Gregory, who has over 30 years of professional experience, having served in a number of senior positions with other companies, will now start a process so that all of his involvements with RSM Malta are ended.

RSM Malta’s Partners thanked Mr Gregory for his leadership since taking up the role and also for his contribution to the firm as one of the Founding Partners. They also expressed gratitude for his long and distinguished career at the firm and for his contribution to the brand over the years.

“He has driven both our pandemic and post-pandemic transformation strategy and created a business culture that delivers returns,” the Partners said.

“The brand is in a strong position in Malta as it enters the next phase of development and growth. We want to thank him for the years of dedicated service which involved many significant accomplishments,” they added.

On his part, Mr Gregory noted that it was a privilege to lead RSM Malta.

“I never imagined when I started 19 years ago that I would have the honour of becoming Managing Partner. I am proud of what we have achieved, and it has only been possible because of the talent, dedication, and commitment of the people at RSM Malta,” he remarked.

“I want to thank them wholeheartedly and wish them continued success for the next stage of the journey. After an intense four years, it is now the right time for me to move on to new ventures,” he continued.

RSM Malta’s Partners have now started a formal process to find a successor, with the firm stating that a “smooth and orderly transition” involving Mr Gregory will take place in the meantime.
