Jeanelle Aquilina, Head of Direct Tax and Corporate Services at Tri-Mer, has been appointed President of BPW Valletta Malta, stepping into a role within one of the country’s key organisations focused on advancing women in business and professional spheres.
BPW (Business and Professional Women) Malta forms part of a global network dedicated to developing the professional and leadership potential of women through mentoring, advocacy, and international collaboration. Ms Aquilina’s appointment places her at the forefront of this work locally, while also connecting her to a broader international platform.
At Tri-Mer, Ms Aquilina has built a reputation for strategic thinking and leadership within the firm’s tax and corporate services practice. Her new role at BPW Valletta Malta extends this trajectory into the non-profit and advocacy space, with focus on with policy, representation, and community-building.
Tri-Mer described Ms Aquilina as a “visionary leader”, noting that her expertise and approach position her well to contribute to BPW’s ongoing work both locally and internationally.
Her tenure has already begun with international engagement. Last week, Ms Aquilina represented BPW at the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) in New York.
Through BPW’s consultative status within the United Nations, Ms Aquilina participated in panel discussions, attended ministerial-level meetings, and observed proceedings around the adoption of the commission’s final resolution. The event brought together representatives of member states, NGOs, and civil society to address ongoing challenges and priorities related to women’s rights.
Speaking about the experience, Ms Aquilina highlighted the importance of these spaces in shaping global conversations. The commission provided an opportunity to engage directly with policymakers and advocates, while also strengthening international networks that support the advancement of women across sectors.
As she begins her presidency, her focus is expected to build on BPW’s existing work in Malta, while strengthening its connections abroad and expanding opportunities for members through networking, mentorship, and engagement with policy platforms.
