Leonid McKay has been appointed CEO of Transport Malta, succeeding Kurt Farrugia, who will now lead Residenza Malta.
A former Caritas director, Mr McKay was appointed CEO of the Housing Authority in 2018, serving four years in the role before taking over as CEO of the Authority for the Responsible Use of Cannabis.
He was appointed JobsPlus CEO in 2024 and CEO of the Labour Party a few months later.
It is as yet unclear whether he will now resigned his party position.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Bonello – the Head of Secretariat at the Transport Ministry – has been entrusted with overseeing the implementation of a light rail system as part of the ‘Malta in Motion’ plan.
Minister for Sustainable Mobility Chris Bonett thanked Mr Farrugia for his service and wished Mr McKay and Ms Bonello the best of luck.
He said the solution lies in "simple things that we have forgotten all about".
He will officially assume the position on 1st July.
