LifeCycle (Malta) Foundation

LifeCycle (Malta) Foundation hosted a special evening on Friday, marking the milestone of raising €154,645 through its fundraising initiatives in 2023.

Founded in 1999, the foundation was created to raise awareness and generate support for patients suffering from end-stage renal disease. It organises a number of challenges and projects every year, working closely with patents and professionals.

The announcement of the funds raised was made by LifeCycle (Malta) Foundation Founder and Chairman Alan Curry, at an event which saw participants in the LifeCycle Challenge and LifeWalk 2023 and previous editions, supporters, sponsors, kidney patients, and live organ donors gather in a spirit of shared achievement, gratitude and optimism. They reinforced their commitment to the mission of helping renal patients, raising awareness on kidney health, and supporting medical research in this field.

During the event, the contribution of the LifeCycle Challenge 2023 participants was also acknowledged and honoured through a certificates and awards presentation. A commemorative gift was also presented to all cyclists and members of the backup team who took part in the 10-day 2023 LifeCycle Challenge from Thailand to Malaysia.

Special recognition went to Francesca Garbe, the recipient of this year’s Jack Bowen Award, given to the cyclist who best embodied the spirit of the challenge and also showed exceptional team spirit and performance.

“This is a moment where we pause to reflect on the remarkable achievement of our intrepid cyclists who choose to put their sporting prowess and resilience to the test in the name of philanthropy,” Mr Curry said while commenting on the event.

He said that it is also an opportunity for members to reflect on how far LifeCycle (Malta) Foundation has come since its inception and to recognise the “tangible impact we can make on the lives of kidney patients” through dedicated efforts.

“Meanwhile, as we take a short break between one challenge and the other, renal patients continue with their struggle on a daily basis,” he stated.

The 2023 LifeCycle Challenge was supported by the main sponsor Nescafé, as well as other sponsors including Smart Technologies Ltd, Technoline Ltd, Farsons Foundation, Laferla Insurance, JPA, The Web Ally, McDonald’s, Borg Cardona & Co Ltd, and Salini Resort.
