Luke Micallef Capello has been appointed as Chief AI and Automation Officer at payment processing and technology company RS2 plc.

The company said the role is newly established, “reflecting the strategic importance of artificial intelligence and automation across the Group.”

This position will ensure that AI initiatives are aligned with the company’s strategy, supported by strong governance, and deployed securely, RS2 said in a company announcement.

Mr Micallef Capello joined the company in April 2007 and has over 15 years of experience in software development and IT operations.

He has held senior management roles for the past five years and most recently served as Group Head of AI and Automation.

Over the past three years, he has led key AI initiatives at the company.

He has experience across the software development lifecycle, with a background in financial technology and payment systems, and has led large, cross functional teams, the company said.
