MedTech World returns to Malta on 11th-13th November, bringing international investors, healthcare innovators and industry leaders together and giving local businesses a chance to build relationships with the people shaping the sector.
For Malta’s CEOs, investors, importers and distributors, healthcare innovation has implications well beyond hospitals and clinics. It creates opportunities to represent new products, back emerging companies, provide specialist services, and help international businesses enter new markets.
MedTech World brings together medical technology entrepreneurs, investors, manufacturers, healthcare providers and decisionmakers this November for three days of indefinite discussions and networking.
For local business leaders, it offers an amazing opportunity to meet international companies while they are here and understand where their own business could fit.
For companies supplying Malta’s healthcare market, access to new manufacturers and technologies can shape their next phase of growth.

Meeting the people behind the product enables the distributor to get a real feel for the product's development, its commercial aspirations and the nature of the partnership required. It also gives the international manufacturer a much better insight into the local market and the partners that are available to them.
MedTech World is a platform to kick off the conversations, look at potential representation and distribution arrangements and identify technologies that may be of interest to local hospitals and private clinics.
The value extends to businesses considering healthcare as a new area of activity. Attending can help them assess the market, ask practical questions, and identify where further investigation is worthwhile.
Thinking beyond the regular curve for Malta-based investors, the event provides access to founders building medical technologies and to specialist investors who assess these businesses internationally.
To properly understand the healthcare sector, you need to go beyond the market potential and look at the fundamentals of the sector itself, such as the clinical need, the regulatory landscape, the route to market, and the capital required to scale.

Talking to founders and experienced investors is a great way for local investors to get the sector specific insight they need, to spot the opportunities that are emerging and to build relationships that may lead to future investment. For the CEO it's also a great way of getting a different perspective when considering a partnership, an acquisition or an opportunity to go into a healthcare-related service.
Healthcare companies need more investment and clinical expertise. They also need legal and corporate services, banking and payments, insurance, logistics, recruitment, software and communications support.
In this 3-day conference, understanding business opportunities, and meeting the founders and investors can help the local entrepreneurs go a long way.
“When we bring this international community to Malta, I want our local business community to be part of the conversation,” says Dr Dylan Attard, Co-Founder and CEO of MedTech World. “There are opportunities here for investors, distributors and service providers, as well as healthcare professionals. But those relationships begin by showing up, meeting people and understanding what they are building.”
MedTech World will bring together healthcare executives, investors, entrepreneurs and industry people to Malta from 11th to 13th November.
The event will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre and will cover the full range of investment, innovation, and the commercialisation of medical technology. There will be two conference stages: Sacra Infermeria which will look at the wider healthcare and innovation landscape, and La Valette, which will focus on investment and the business case for MedTech.
There will be an exhibition, a startup village, an investor lounge and a series of one-to-one meetings with founders, investors and representatives from a number of international healthcare companies (including Johnson & Johnson).
The main programme will be preceded by the Gozo Investors' Retreat (9th-11th November) where investors will meet for focused discussion and networking. Receptions and the closing Awards Gala will provide further opportunities for investors to meet. For Maltese business people, it's an opportunity to get in touch with an international network of health companies and investors without having to go abroad.
The key to making the most of the event is preparation. Understanding companies that are of interest to you and having the meetings fixed in advance so that your time is spent on conversations that are relevant to your business will be highly beneficial.
