The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) announced the passing of Board Member Carmel Cascun in a social media post earlier today.

Dr Cascun had served on the MFSA’s Board of Governors since February 2021.
Although his speciality is the marine and aviation insurance class, over the last 20 years Dr Cascun was also actively involved in other classes of insurance, particularly in the liability class.
Dr Cascun was a Chartered Insurance Broker and a regular Lecturer in insurance and insurance law at the University of Malta. In 1996 he completed a post-graduate degree in European and Comparative Law and was conferred with his LL.D Degree in 2001.
He was also a Registered Insurance Broker and a Member of the Chamber of Advocates.
“Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time,” the MFSA concluded. Rest in peace.
