Michael Agius on Saturday announced that he has been promoted to Director – Tax Services at Grant Thornton Malta.
He is a long-standing figure at the professional services firm, having first joined in 2007 as Senior Executive – Tax. He then rose up the ranks after a series of promotions that saw him serve as Tax Manager, Senior Manager – Tax, Associate Director – Tax, and most recently, Director – Tax Services.
Since he joined Grant Thornton, he has been involved in providing tax assistance to a portfolio of local and international clients with particular reference to the preparation of tax assessment, tax planning and consultancy services, VAT compliance, and various other services.
Mr Agius has been involved in indirect and direct tax matters since 2003, initially at the Inland Revenue Department’s tax investigations unit.
He is an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Affiliate and holds an Advanced Diploma in International Taxation from the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Additionally, Mr Agius is also a Member at the Malta Institute of Accountants and the Malta Institute of Taxation.
The firm in Malta was founded in 1975, and became a Grant Thornton member in 1991. It focuses on providing a range of services including assurance, tax, advisory, specialist financial services, corporate, secretarial, and also administrative services to clients in both the private and public sector across various industries.
The funds will allow APS Bank to expand lending capacity and invest further in technology.
