Aġenzija Sapport CEO Oliver Scicluna has been recognised on the European stage after securing the Leadership in Social Services Award by the European Social Network during a ceremony held in Madrid.
The agency described the win as a testament to his “leadership and tireless commitment to transform disability services in Malta,” while also congratulating its Supported Transition and Independent Living Community (STILC) team, which was shortlisted in the Disability and Accessibility in Social Services category.

Mr Scicluna dedicated the award to the professionals driving the sector forward. “This award is dedicated to the hard work of my colleagues in Malta who give their heart and soul to the social field especially in the disability sector,” he said.
“Leadership is not about titles or positions. It is about taking responsibility, setting direction, and pushing forward to create a better future for the people we serve.”
He also expressed gratitude towards those closest to him, adding: “A special dedication goes to my colleagues at Aġenzija Sapport, whose commitment drives every achievement, and to my wife, who remains a crucial pillar of strength in everything I do. Honoured, humbled, and motivated to keep moving forward.”
Mr Scicluna’s career spans youth work, community engagement, cultural initiatives and longstanding advocacy in disability rights. After initially graduating in software programming from Cambridge University, he went on to complete degrees in Youth and Community Studies and an MBA. He founded and led NGOs such as Hip Hop Malta and Breaking Limits, and contributed to projects across youth, culture, inmate rehabilitation, disability, and migration.
His public service track record includes chairing the National Commission for Persons with Disability, serving as the first Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Disability, and later being co-opted to the House of Representatives in 2021. He has also served on various national boards and advisory councils, including those related to education, transport, culture, sports, voluntary work, and social policy.
