Lawrence Spiteri / Corinthia Caterers

Lawrence Spiteri, most recently served as Retail and Airline Director, has left Corinthia Group after over 30 years at the hospitality company.

Announcing the news on Thursday, Mr Spiteri, a veteran in the hospitality industry, having amassed 40 years of experience in the area, said that he “never in a million years would have dreamt” that his journey with Corinthia Group would be coming to an end.

He had joined the company in 1993, starting out at Corinthia Palace in Attard, before then moving on to the former Mistra Village. After two years there, he became General Manager at Corinthia’s airport services division, and oversaw the opening of the gateway diner. Afterwards, Mr Spiteri moved to Corinthia Caterers, and was appointed to his most recent role of Retail and Airline Director, a position he held for over five years.

Earlier this month, he was among a long list of Corinthia Group employees who were commended for their work over the years at its Continuous Service Awards 2023. Mr Spiteri was celebrated for his 30 years working at the hospitality company.

Speaking to MaltaCEOs.mt, Mr Spiteri remarked that he is currently considering the various options and offers he has on the table.

“As the festive season puts a halt for some time as it is holiday time for many, I will have time to reflect, choose, and embark on new adventures with new energy,” he said.

“I am positive that I will be moving to a new chapter,” Mr Spiteri confirmed.

Mr Spiteri is qualified in food and beverage from the Institute of Tourism Studies, and also holds a Higher National Diploma in Business Management from Idea Academy. He is a strong operations professional who also graduated from ICE Malta.

Corinthia Group is one of Malta’s largest hospitality companies, with roots dating back to 1962 when it started out as an elegant dining experience at the Corinthia Palace Restaurant. This was followed by the opening of the Corinthia Palace, its first hotel, in 1968. Since then, Corinthia Group has continued to grow under the leadership of Founder and Chairman Alfred Pisani, opening a number of hotels, including Corinthia London. It has also stretched its reach across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa.
