On Tuesday, the latest superyacht from the Ritz-Carlton collection, Ilma, made its inaugural call at Valletta Cruise Port.

Sharing the first visit on its Facebook page, Valletta Cruise Port noted that the luxurious yacht is honouring the sea that connects Malta to the world’s premier yachting destinations.

Measuring 240 metres by 29 metres, the 46,750-ton Ilma can accomodate 448 passengers across 224 suites, and 378 crew members.

The vessel also has an astonishing 11 decks, eight of which are guest decks.

It was built by the French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique. Meanwhile, its exterior was designed by the Finnish studio Aivan, while the interior was designed by British architectural and design company AD Associated and lighting designer DPA.

Ilma is not only prestigiously named in Malta’s native language but also carries its flag.

However, it is not the first of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s vessels to do so, as Evrima, launched in 2022, was also registered in Malta.

Nonetheless, the connection to Malta goes beyond just the registration of the vessel as reservations from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa were handled by the firm’s Malta office, situated in the Forni Complex at the Valletta Waterfront.
