Smart Group Malta has announced the appointment of Saverio Lauretta as its new Group Chief Legal & Governance Officer (CLGO). 

In this new role, Avv. Lauretta will work closely with the office of the CEO, assuming overall responsibility for the legal, governance, and compliance framework of the group.

This appointment, Smart Group said, represents an important step in the ongoing consolidation and expansion of the group. As the CLGO, Avv. Lauretta will oversee and coordinate all legal and governance activities across the group, ensuring full compliance, efficiency, and strategic alignment with the its objectives and the governance standards established by the company.

Smart Group Malta works across real estate, construction, healthcare, and hospitality. Its companies include Smarthomes, SmartCare, Drew’s and The Segond Hotel in Gozo.

The new CLGO’s career spans more than 26 years of experience in assets and projects management, financial management, business leadership, and corporate strategy. 

Prior to taking on such role, Avv. Lauretta held institutional roles, providing assistance, including strategic advice, to national and international business groups in corporate, commercial, and asset protection matters, and, last but not least, supporting development projects and transactional joint ventures. 

He holds a law degree from the University of Catania (Italy), has been practicing law for over 26 years, also qualified to practice at the highest levels of jurisdiction. Over the course of his career, he has served as a professional lecturer and trainer.
