Young women in Malta with an interest in entrepreneurship now have an exciting opportunity to develop their skills and ideas in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through the FEM-Up Academy.

This initiative, spearheaded by Skills Zone Malta, aims to equip participants with the tools and confidence needed to bring their entrepreneurial visions to life.

The FEM-Up Academy is a free mentoring programme designed specifically for women aged 18 to 35. While the core target group is women aged 18 to 30, organisers have extended eligibility to include those up to 35 years old.

Participants must reside in Malta, have a minimum B2 level of English proficiency, and, ideally, an innovative idea in the STEAM fields.

For those without a fully formed concept, support is available to help them develop one.

What’s on Offer?

The programme offers a comprehensive suite of resources and activities to nurture entrepreneurial talent, including:

  • Training in key business areas: Topics such as Empowering Women in Business, Communication and Presentation Skills, Business Planning and Strategy, and Marketing and Innovation will be covered.
  • Expert mentoring: Participants will receive guidance from seasoned business professionals.
  • Webinars and events: These will focus on emerging trends and innovations, providing invaluable insights for budding entrepreneurs.
  • Start-up visits and networking opportunities: Exposure to successful start-ups and connections with peers and experts from six countries will broaden participants’ perspectives.
  • Support for entrepreneurial growth: This includes free consultations and personalised branding for participants’ business ideas.

One standout feature of the FEM-Up Academy is the opportunity for participants to compete in the “FEM-Up Your Idea” contest.

This competition, held in Maribor, Slovenia, will offer participants a chance to pitch their ideas on an international stage and vie for the title of the most innovative and tangible business concept.
