Bank of Valletta plc (BOV) has received regulatory approval for the appointment of Sue Vella (Mary Anne sive Sue) as Non-Executive Director of the bank.

Prof. Vella brings more than two decades of senior leadership and governance experience, having held top management positions at the Employment and Training Corporation and Malta Enterprise.

At a European level, she served for seven years as a member of the EU’s Treaty-based Employment Committee, chairing its technical group, and has been active on the boards of both public and non-governmental organisations.

Between 2016 and 2022, she was also a Non-Executive Director at HSBC Bank Malta.

Currently, Prof. Vella lectures in Social Policy at the University of Malta, specialising in areas such as policy analysis, governance and management, strategic planning and European social policy.

She coordinates the Malta team on the European Social Policy Analysis Network and continues to contribute to academic research in various social domains.

Her expertise spans a wide range of areas critical to financial institutions, including corporate governance, risk oversight, strategic planning, customer satisfaction and risk oversight.

Prof. Vella holds a Ph.D. in Social Policy from the University of York, an M.Sc. in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics and undergraduate qualifications in psychology and applied social studies from the University of Malta.
