Richard Brown, who is currently Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) CEO, on Thursday was named CEO at Malta-based Glitnor Group.
His appointment will come into effect from January 2024, when he steps down from his present role at GiG. The announcement of his departure from GiG came last month, with the group set to be split into two corporate groups; (i) GiG Media and (ii) Platform & Sportsbook.
Mr Brown has a wealth of iGaming industry experience, spending over 15 years in C-level, senior and managerial positions, and Glitnor Group describes his appointment as a “major coup” for the group as it continues to expand.
Glitnor Group adds that he will join ahead of what is set to be an “important and exciting next phase for the business”, with it targeting further expansion of its global presence by “continuing to build and nurture strong iGaming operations and games development studios” in Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Brown said that he is “honoured” to take on the role.
“The teams have built a fantastic position in the industry and I look forward to working with them to further capitalise on the number of opportunities the business has ahead of it,” he added.
“The group’s long-term ambition is impressive, supported by founders with a proven track record of success and I am extremely excited to help add value towards achieving those goals for the business, the group’s staff and its shareholders,” Mr Brown continued.
“I was fortunate enough to enjoy an incredible eight years at GiG, with the last four as CEO, but the time was right for me to embrace a new challenge at what I truly believe to be one of the most exciting business groups in the iGaming industry. I very much look forward to starting in the New Year,” he concluded.
Glitnor Group Co-Founder Jörgen Nordlund remarked that through Mr Brown’s appointment, he believes that the group has secured “one of the industry’s top C-level talents”, and he is looking forward to the “positive impact” that he will have on the group as it looks to strengthen its brands and enter more markets in the future.
“Given the successful nature of his time at GiG and the wealth of iGaming experience he has in general, I’m certain Richard [Mr Brown] has all of the necessary skills to help take Glitnor to a new level and I think I speak for everyone when I say we can’t wait to work with him as we enter our next phase of development,” he said.
Aside from his time at GiG, Mr Brown also worked at Highlight Media Group for four years, Web Guide Partner for three years, and was Senior Sales Executive at THG Sports for more than a year. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Audio and Media Engineering from Nottingham Trent University, and describes himself as “highly driven and motivated”.
Founded in 2018, Glitnor Group is an iGaming company that aims to “take global leadership and change the competitive landscape” for game studios, game operators, and lead generation. While it is headquartered in Malta, it has a presence in both Europe and Asia.
