The Convenience Shop plc CEO David Tabone believes Maltese consumers recognise that value goes beyond price, extending to key factors like product quality, the convenience of locations, and the overall shopping experience.
Speaking after the group was recognised as Malta’s top value-for-money neighbourhood grocery chain with the Women’s Choice Best Buy Award, the CEO said it “reinforces our belief that delivering genuine value is about much more than competitive prices.”
The recognition follows an independent consumer survey conducted by ICERTIAS in May 2026, involving 1,200 female respondents across Malta and Gozo. MyConvenience emerged as the leading brand in the Neighbourhood Grocery Chain category, receiving the highest number of votes for offering the best price-quality ratio, reflecting consumers’ perception of the value it delivers in everyday shopping.
“What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is that it comes directly from consumers themselves,” said Mr Tabone.
The award comes at an important time for the group, following the launch of its ambitious rebranding and transformation programme, which has seen The Convenience Shop evolve into MyConvenience and MySupermarket, creating two distinct retail propositions designed to better serve the changing needs of Maltese consumers.
The CEO added: “Receiving this recognition during such an important period of transformation is particularly encouraging. Our rebranding goes far beyond a change of name or visual identity. It represents a renewed commitment to improving our stores, expanding our product ranges, enhancing customer service and introducing digital innovations that make everyday shopping easier and more rewarding.
“This award is an endorsement of the direction we have taken and a motivation to continue raising the bar for our customers.”
He also credited the dedication and hard work of staff, franchise partners and management teams, “who strive every day to offer our customers the best possible combination of quality, convenience and value.”
The Best Buy Award is an internationally recognised certification that identifies brands, products and services offering outstanding value for money, as perceived by consumers. Administered by ICERTIAS, an independent research and certification organisation based in Zürich, Switzerland, the award is founded on consumer research rather than the assessments of industry panels or commercial judges.
The MHRA CEO joined four other stakeholders in a much-needed conversation on tourism development.
