Global tech giant Contentsquare yesterday announced that it has acquired Malta-based company Hotjar.
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in St Julian’s, Hotjar nowadays employs over 190 team members across 33 countries within Europe, the Americas, and Africa.
The company provides product experience insights for teams in small and mid-market businesses.
Contentsquare was founded in Paris back in 2012 and now employs just under 1,000 individuals across London, New York, San Francisco, Munich, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Barcelona, and Singapore.
Today, Contentsquare helps over 750 enterprises in 26 countries deliver better digital experiences for their customers.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be joining forces with Contentsquare,” Hotjar Founder David Darmanin said.
“We built Hotjar to inspire product improvements by enabling businesses of all sizes to have empathy with their end-users,” he continued.
Over the last 12 months, Hotjar has achieved significant growth as more consumers have gone online. Together, the two companies provide insights to close to one million websites in over 180 countries.
“Joining the Contentsquare family enables us to accelerate our work towards this vision, double-down on our investments in innovation, and thereby unlock even more value for our customers,” Mr Darmanin continued.
Last May, Contentsquare raised $500 million Series E funding at a $2.8 billion valuation. The company also announced plans to increase its global headcount by more than 1,500 people in the next three years.
“Coming together with Hotjar allows us to broaden our reach to bring business-critical insights to every type of business across all industries,” Contentsquare CEO and Founder Jonathan Cherki said.
