On a Tuesday morning at The Phoenicia Malta’s Bastion Pool Bar & Restaurant, a table is set for breakfast – not for hotel guests, but for a team. They have come directly from a yoga session in the gardens, starting their team day with intention, in a setting unlike any traditional workspace.
For summer 2026, The Phoenicia Malta’s seasonal programme is curated according to how Malta’s business community uses the hotel. The mid-morning breakfast from 10.30am at Bastion Pool Bar & Restaurant accommodates groups of 20 to 30, ideal as a follow-on to a meeting held inside the hotel or as a standalone team gathering. The yoga-and-breakfast variation, capped at 15, is designed for the smaller team that wants the morning to feel different from the usual weekday.

Summer at The Phoenicia Malta also brings other effective working environments, reimagined. By day, Bastion Pool Bar & Restaurant’s à la carte menu, served next to an infinity pool with centuries-old bastion walls and harbour views, remains among the most attractive venues near Valletta for a working lunch or informal client meeting.

From early June, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Bastion Pool Bar & Restaurant bring BBQ Under the Stars: a Mediterranean grill served from 7pm to 10pm against a backdrop of live music – Amelia’s acoustic sets or Steve Galea on guitar.
Wednesdays mean a new à la carte dinner menu paired with the Dominic Galea Jazz Quartet, setting the scene for a quieter evening with a small party or a distinctive client ‘thank you’.
For the more formal occasion, Contessa – the hotel’s botanical garden-inspired flagship restaurant named in honour of co-founder Lady Margaret Strickland – anchors the year-round programme. Business events here may include board dinners and milestone celebrations, delighting in one of the most memorable Maltese dining experiences: Contessa’s signature tiramisu and cocktails, crafted tableside on a golden trolley.
Contessa is also home to the hotel’s famed Sparkling Weekend Brunch, which is available only until 21st June to celebrate Father’s Day, before it pauses for the summer months and restarts in September.

The hotel’s full suite of spaces continues to provide discreet, elegant settings for Malta’s business events – from a senior team coffee at Palm Court Lounge or after-work cocktails at The Club Bar, to a board meeting in one of the dedicated meeting rooms or a conference in the Grand Ballroom.
The Phoenicia Malta has served as one of Malta’s favourite gathering places for almost 80 years. Its accolades continue to accumulate – Forbes Four-Star, a Michelin Key, World Travel Awards Europe’s Leading Landmark Hotel 2025, the LHW Remarkable Experiences Award and GSTC certification.

With unparalleled service standards, it can host a working breakfast at 10.30am, a board dinner at 8pm and every moment in between, all without anyone having to leave the hotel or its private, seven-acre gardens.
“We’ve spent a long time listening to how our business guests want to use the hotel,” says Robyn Pratt, General Manager at The Phoenicia Malta. “We understand that the most successful gatherings are the ones that don’t feel quite like work. The new Bastion breakfasts, the BBQ evenings, the way the team builds each event around its host – it all comes back to that.”

Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines’ direct flights from JFK from 7th June put Malta within easier reach of American business visitors than ever before. Valletta’s summer cultural calendar – with most events in and around the capital taking place just a short walk from The Phoenicia Malta – gives any international guest a reason to extend a stay.
For Malta’s business community, the hotel continues its legacy of hosting the country’s most important gatherings – from a lavish state dinner to a coffee-and-cake with a colleague.
