Air Malta, the country’s national carrier, has joined 101 airlines in signing up to the IATA 25by2025 initiative, which aims to ‘change the gender balance within the aviation industry’.

As its name suggests, IATA 25by2025 is looking to improve female representation within said industry by 25 per cent, or up to a minimum of 25 per cent, by 2025.

“We are delighted to be partnering with other airlines in this celebration of diversity and inclusion to make the aviation industry more gender balanced,” Air Malta Executive Chairman David G. Curmi said.

“We will continue working to recognise female talent and create opportunities for women in which they can thrive as this will make our airline stronger. Diversity and equality are core values at Air Malta, and we are committed to improve female representation within the airline and become a change agent in the aviation industry to make it truly diverse and inclusive,” he continued.

By subscribing to this initiative, Air Malta will join a global community of airlines to share and learn from best practices designed to help it and the industry attract and retain the very best talent and rebuild the industry.

Progress reports on this initiative will be shared annually at the IATA World Air Transport Summit.
