“The success stemmed from a strong focus on people-centric initiatives” wrote Bank of Valletta (BOV) CEO Kenneth Farrugia on LinkedIn, following the bank’s win of three awards over the weekend.

During the Malta Stock Exchange Annual Business Awards, BOV was named Company of the Year 2024, a recognition Mr Farrugia described as “a remarkable achievement and a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence.”

Additionally, the bank clinched two more accolades at the Malta Business Awards: the Gold Project Green Award and the Silver Social Impact Award.

Mr Farrugia said that employee training, development, and fostering a collaborative culture were pivotal to the bank’s success. Equally important, he noted, were efforts to cultivate an agile mindset, which enabled employees to adapt quickly, seize opportunities, and view challenges as pathways for growth.

He elaborated that the award’s evaluation process was both rigorous and comprehensive, considering essential aspects such as financial performance, corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, and stakeholder engagement.

Mr Farrugia expressed his pride in the team’s efforts, stating that these awards underline BOV’s leadership in ESG practices.

“These achievements stand as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our employees to delivering excellence,” he said, adding that the bank’s success is rooted in its focus on serving customers, supporting communities, and respecting the environment.

Reflecting on the accolades, BOV expressed gratitude to its team and stakeholders, stating: “We extend our gratitude to our exceptional team and valued stakeholders for their continued trust and support. Together, we’re building a brighter, more sustainable future.”
