Marthese Portelli

Marthese Portelli on Monday celebrated her second anniversary as The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry CEO.

She first joined the organisation in 2021, when she took over the role from Edward Chetcuti.

Commenting on her milestone, Dr Portelli remarked that it has been a “challenging yet very interesting” time at The Malta Chamber.

“Demanding, yet very rewarding, when we see our policy proposals being taken on board,” she added.

“Surrounded by excellent people who work tirelessly to see ethical business flourish,” she concluded.

Over the course of her career, she has taken up a number of senior roles at various organisations, including as Board of Directors Member at the Malta Business Bureau, Education Malta and Public Broadcasting Services Limited. She is also a Visiting Lecturer at University of Malta, and the Owner of consultancy company Alta Consullta.

Additionally, she is vastly experienced in policy formulation and negotiations, and occupied senior roles in the corporate world for 13 years in the technology sector.

Dr Portelli also has experience in politics, having served as Nationalist Party Member of Parliament for seven years, during which time she shadowed several challenging portfolios including EU affairs, energy, environment, transport, infrastructure, capital projects, planning and property.

The Malta Chamber is described as “the independent voice of the private sector in Malta”, with its principal mission being to actively represent companies from different economic sectors in order to ensure that entrepreneurs enjoy the “best competitive environment” and regulatory conditions possible for business.
