Healthmark, a leading healthcare provider in Malta, is proud to announce an annual partnership with the Malta Dementia Society (MDS), which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the collective efforts to improve the lives of individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.

Healthmark has been at the forefront of healthcare provision for over two decades. With a dedicated workforce of over 3,500 healthcare professionals, including nurses, and care assistants, Healthmark has consistently delivered exceptional services to Malta’s hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and private clients.

Healthmark also offers home care services for people who need additional support to continue living independently in their own homes. Patients are offered a host of personalised services such as assistance with cleaning and cooking, companionship, assistance by carers as well as by nurses.

Charlotte Sant Portanier, CEO at Healthmark, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are honoured to partner with the MDS, an organisation that shares our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with dementia.”

“This collaboration will enable us to leverage our resources and expertise to support the society’s initiatives and further our mutual goal of improving dementia care and awareness in Malta,” she continued.

The MDS, established in September 2004 and led by Chairperson Charles Scerri together with a committee, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to individuals living with dementia, their carers, families, and friends. It focuses on increasing public awareness, promoting the best methods of care, education, and management of dementia, and supporting policymaking to benefit those affected by dementia.

Through courses, lectures, conferences, and support groups like “Reaching hands for relatives,” Malta Dementia Working Group for people with early dementia, DancingtoDementia, physiotherapy, psychotherapy sessions, and much more, MDS provides invaluable resources and support to the dementia community Malta.

Prof. Scerri welcomed the partnership, stating: “The support of Healthmark as an annual partner will significantly enhance our capacity to provide essential services and education to the dementia community.”

“Together, we will work towards a more informed and supportive environment for those affected by dementia in Malta,” he affirmed.

Through this collaboration, Healthmark and the MDS aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of those living with dementia and their caregivers, fostering a community of understanding, support, and innovation in dementia care.

In September, MDS is organising the first dementia conference of its kind in Malta. For more information visit MDS’s website here or Healthmark’s website here.
