David-G-Curmi

KM Malta Airlines has been ranked the 5th best airline in the world, according to the 2025 AirHelp Global Airline Survey – an achievement Executive Chairman David Curmi describes as a milestone shaped by both the airline’s team and its passengers.

“Being ranked 5th best airline worldwide and 2nd worldwide for On-Time Performance are two important milestones for KM Malta Airlines,” Mr Curmi said.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team and our commitment to delivering a high-quality experience every day. We are especially proud to stand among the top European airlines in this year’s results. Most importantly, I want to thank our customers for their trust and support. This achievement belongs to them as much as to our people, whose professionalism and care set us apart.”

The AirHelp ranking places KM Malta Airlines among elite global operators such as Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, and Virgin Atlantic, underscoring the Maltese carrier’s rapid progress since its launch. Out of 117 airlines assessed worldwide, the airline earned an overall score of 7.85, securing its position among the top performers.

Second worldwide for punctuality

The survey’s category rankings showed KM Malta Airlines achieving an exceptional result for On-Time Performance, placing 2nd worldwide with a score of 8.7 – just behind Oman Air.

The airline also delivered solid results in customer experience and claims handling.

AirHelp’s evaluation covers key areas such as punctuality, customer satisfaction, and claims-handling quality, using thousands of data points and global passenger feedback.

The airline’s success has also drawn international attention. In its breakdown of the top-ranked airlines, US outlet Newsbreak described KM Malta Airlines as “a newer name on the list” with “one of the highest on-time performance ratings in the top ten”, adding that the carrier offers “intimate service, efficient operations, and a boutique feel that makes each flight feel less like a transaction and more like a pleasant journey.”
