On Wednesday (today), The Convenience Shop announced the departure of Joao Carlos Rente Correia as Chief Operating Officer of the group.

His short stint as COO began in May, after Mr Correia first joined the company in January as the Executive Assistant to the CEO.

He has over 20 years of experience in the retail, logistics, agri-food and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry across Europe, West Africa, and South America.

Before joining the group, he served as CEO of Grupo Amiria, a company that operates an international chain of supermarkets.

Furthermore, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration issued by the European University, and a postgraduate degree in Operations and Supply Chain Management from University of Liverpool.

He also successfully completed an Advancement Management Executive Programme and a General Management Executive Programme, both from Porto Business School.

The Convenience Shop, a leading retail chain in Malta, opened its first outlet in 2009. In recent weeks it has seen a number of changes in leadership. Denise Cortis was appointed Chief People Officer and David Tabone as group CEO, replacing Martin Agius.
