Finance professional Karl Paris has taken on a new role as Head of Finance at Blue Clay Hotels Ltd, which represents Meliá Hotels International in Malta, bringing more than 15 years of financial leadership experience spanning hospitality, tourism, construction and financial services.
Announcing the move, Mr Paris said: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Finance at Meliá Hotels International.”
Meliá Hotels International is a Spanish hospitality brand operating in Malta with Blue Clay Hotels Ltd. Its latest property, INNSiDE by Meliá Malta, builds on the successful opening of a hotel in Marsalforn, with the new property in Buġibba representing the second hotel to open in the coming months.
Two further hotels under the prestigious The Meliá Collection are scheduled to launch later this year in Gozo, further strengthening the portfolio.
A Certified Public Accountant and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Mr Paris has built a career focused on financial accounting, budgeting, cash flow analysis and regulatory compliance across several major Maltese organisations.
Prior to taking on this new role, he spent almost four years as Finance Manager at Calamatta Cuschieri, where he oversaw financial operations within one of Malta’s established financial services groups.
Earlier in his career, Mr Paris spent more than five years at MIDI plc, progressing from Accountant to Finance Manager, managing departmental operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting processes and audit coordination.
He also spent nearly nine years at SMS Group Limited, where he advanced through several finance roles, beginning as Accounts Clerk before progressing to Accounts Supervisor and later Assistant Finance Manager.
Across his career, Mr Paris has developed expertise in management accounting, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, compliance frameworks and budget planning, building extensive experience across sectors central to Malta’s economy.
In his new role at Meliá Hotels International, he joins one of the hospitality sector’s leading international brands at a time when Malta’s tourism industry continues to evolve and strengthen its operational and financial frameworks.
