Over the past year, a strategic transformation led by Corinthia Palace’s General Manager Alexandra Pisani has brought together the property’s rich heritage and modern relevance.

MaltaCEOs sat down with Ms Pisani to discuss the vision behind these changes, the business potential of the latest offerings, and what lies ahead for this iconic address.

Q: What key changes have defined Corinthia Palace over the past year?

Pisani: The past year has been about intentional evolution – refining the brand while remaining anchored in our legacy. We’ve adopted a more lifestyle-driven, experiential model. From reimagining our outdoor poolside venue as Secret Garden to expanding wellness and elevating dining, each initiative aims to build deeper emotional connections with guests.

But perhaps the most important shift has been cultural. There’s a renewed sense of pride and unity among our team. Their energy and commitment shape the guest experience at every touchpoint.

Q: What was the broader vision behind this transformation?

Pisani: The goal was to translate our core values – authenticity, understated luxury, and heritage – into experiences that resonate with today’s traveller. We wanted everything to feel curated yet natural, elevated but unpretentious.

Secret Garden exemplifies this. It’s not just a venue – it’s a lifestyle concept. Through design, music, and gastronomy, we’ve created a Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere that feels warm, stylish, and inclusive to both locals and international visitors.

Q: From a commercial perspective, how has Secret Garden been received?

Pisani: The response has been overwhelmingly positive. There’s strong demand in Malta for high-quality experiences. The summer launch – infused with the spirit of La Dolce Vita and cinematic flair – firmly positioned Secret Garden in this space.

Strategic partnerships have amplified our brand and added aspirational value. We’ve already hosted a range of events – from corporate functions to private celebrations – and it’s quickly become a go-to outdoor venue.

Q: Tell us about the summer programme and its strategic intent.

Pisani: The calendar was built to attract a diverse, repeat audience – leisure guests, event planners, and corporate clients. Fridays are our headline act with Sundown Socials at the Veuve Clicquot Lounge, featuring local and international DJs, signature cocktails, and a design-forward atmosphere. Wednesdays highlight live performances by local musicians, reinforcing our commitment to the arts and community.

Q: How has Chef Francesco Mazzei shaped the culinary direction?

Pisani: Chef Francesco has played a vital role in redefining our food identity. His summer menu celebrates Mediterranean ingredients with bold, imaginative flair. He balances tradition with creativity, offering dishes that feel both nostalgic and new.

He’s also deeply involved with our culinary team, which enhances authenticity and consistency. It’s more than creating menus – it’s a long-term alignment with our brand’s vision for elevated, meaningful dining.

Q: What’s in store for autumn and winter?

Pisani: The cooler months mark a return to the heart of our brand: Villa Corinthia. This is where our heritage and hospitality converge – an elegant space for upscale events, intimate dining, and cultural gatherings. With its lush setting and architectural grandeur, it’s the ideal venue for brand launches, executive dinners, and seasonal celebrations.

Our programming will reflect the shift in tone. The music series will continue with more lounge-style sets and some classically-led performances. Wellness offerings will move toward reflective, restorative sessions. On the culinary side, we’ll focus on seasonal comfort and storytelling.

We’re also preparing new cultural and culinary collaborations to maintain momentum and keep Corinthia Palace top-of-mind for partners and guests throughout the year.

Q: What do you ultimately want people to take away from a visit?

Pisani: A sense of timelessness and quiet discovery. Corinthia Palace doesn’t really follow trends – we embody enduring values, delivered with modern relevance. I want guests and collaborators to feel they’ve found a place of confidence, harmony and lasting impact – a place to belong.

Q: And what motivates you personally in your role?

Pisani: It’s the people – our guests, our team, and our partners. There’s something deeply rewarding about guiding this property through its next chapter while staying true to its soul. It’s a privilege to lead this evolution.
