EBO.ai CEO Gege Gatt on Friday remarked that in order to secure a healthy technological future, one must follow a path that is steered by values.

“Technology, just like science, is a human endeavour that must be guided by values,” he said.

Dr Gatt, who is an expert in implementing artificial intelligence (AI) business solutions, was a speaker at the sixth edition of the TEDxUniversityofMalta conference, which took place on 10th March 2023 at the University of Malta’s Valletta Campus Library. The focus of the conference was on navigating a Malta that is stuck between traditions and a desire for progress.

He explained that those that manage to strike a balance between human values and AI’s potential are best-prepared for the future.

“The future belongs to those who can shape the power of AI, while maintaining a deep respect for the things that make us truly human, and truly fragile,” he added.

Aside from being the Co-Founder and CEO at AI product EBO.ai, he has also been Director at technology company ICON for 23 years, Vice President at the Malta IT Law Association for almost nine years, and a Board Member at the Humanity 2.0 Foundation for over four years, and is also a Specialist Examiner (ICT Law Doctoral Thesis) at University of Malta.
