The 99.95-metre superyacht ‘Moonrise’, owned by WhatsApp Founder Jan Koum, has been spotted in Maltese waters.

Built by Feadship in the Netherlands, Moonrise was launched in 2020 and features exterior designs by De Voogt Naval Architects and interior designs by Rémi Tessieri. It is currently valued at €206.8 million ($220 million).

With a beam of 15.5 metres, a draught of 4.2 metres and a volume of 3,945 GT, the superyacht can accommodate 16 guests and 32 crew members, including the captain.

Some of its features include a beach club, a gym and a helipad.

The vessel is listed as number 83 in the world rankings for largest yachts and is the sixth largest yacht built by Feadship.

Superyachts are often associated with high-profile people because of their ultra-luxurious nature and high cost.

Jan Koum has a net worth of €15.32 billion ($16.3 billion), which is attributed to the co-founding of WhatsApp. In 2014, Facebook purchased one of the world’s most popular apps for €20.68 billion ($22 billion) in cash and stock.

Four years later, the billionaire resigned as CEO of WhatsApp and stepped down from Facebook’s board.
