The third FIDEM Foundation International Women’s Day Conference, set to take place on 7th March, will serve as a crucial platform for discussing and tackling structural inequalities that continue to hinder progress.

The event will focus on critical issues such as unequal pay, restricted access to education, and the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles, while also exploring long-term solutions to foster meaningful change.

This year’s conference will place a particular emphasis on advancing women’s economic empowerment across key industries, including business, education, sports, arts, and culture. Furthermore, the event will address the pressing issue of domestic violence, highlighting the severe consequences of delayed justice for victims. The discussion will also explore ways to dismantle societal stigma, provide adequate support for survivors, and ensure their mental well-being is prioritised.

A panel of esteemed speakers and moderators will lead discussions at the conference.

This year’s line-up includes:

  • Sabine Agius Cabourdin – Founder, Fidem Foundation
  • Ariadne Massa – PR Strategist and Media Consultant
  • Trudy Kerr – Host, The SHE Word podcast
  • Marie Briguglio – Economist
  • Marceline Naudi – Senior Lecturer, Department of Gender Studies
  • Haley Bugeja – Footballer
  • Nigel Camilleri – Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
  • Maria Brown – Senior Lecturer, Adult Education
  • Marthese Portelli – CEO, The Malta Chamber
  • Maria Azzopardi – General Secretary, Malta Football Association
  • Charlo Bonnici – CEO, Malta College of Sports
  • Sylvana Gafa – Head of Services, Victim Support Agency
  • Alessia Cilia Portelli – Educator, sister of domestic violence victim Bernice Cassar

Organised by the FIDEM Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals across Malta and Gozo, the conference aims to provide life-changing access to education and well-being guidance, particularly for women, adolescent girls, and children.
