AST Group plc has announced the resignation of Executive Director Giuseppe Muscat and the appointment of maritime professional Alogakos Stavros as an executive director and Chairman of the Board, with both changes taking effect from 22nd May 2026.

In a company announcement, AST Group said Mr Muscat had resigned from his role as executive director. The company added that there were no further matters requiring disclosure under the Capital Markets Rules.

Mr Stavros has now assumed both the role of Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

According to the announcement, Mr Stavros brings extensive experience in ship management, marine engineering, and technical operations. He currently serves as General Manager, Operations Manager, Designated Person Ashore, and Company Security Officer at DS Shipping Ltd, where he oversees fleet operations, chartering activities, regulatory compliance, and overall company management.

Prior to this, he occupied several senior roles within DS Shipping, including Fleet Manager and Technical Superintendent, gaining expertise in vessel operations, drydock planning, technical management, and HSQE compliance.

Mr Stavros holds a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and has also obtained specialised certifications in maritime safety, security, hazardous materials management, and technical surveying. Before joining DS Shipping, he worked as Project Manager at Aegean Engineers Ltd and as a Port Agent with DASS Shipping.
